According to Gus, liver treats should be served as an appetizer, crumbled as a topping on his dinner, and as dessert.
As you can probably guess, he loves them. It’s a word he learned very quickly and wishes we’d say more often.
You can clearly see Gus loves them. Here are a few reasons why we love PureBites liver treats:
- One ingredient (yes, only one!) – beef liver
- Product of the USA
- Low calorie
- Easy to break into smaller pieces
- Gus is easily bribed at the mere mention of “liver treat”
Hey, don’t judge on that last one! He’s super pokey when we let him out to “go do it” right before bed. Mentioning his nightly liver treat usually speeds up the process!
Are there other doggers out there as fanatical about liver treats as Gus?

Seriously, could Gus be any cuter?
We used liver treats for training once and Lu loved them. But let’s just say they didn’t agree with her sensitive belly… They are a treat that she definitely needs to enjoy in moderation! LOL!!

Oh yes, liver treats are a staple in our home! Bizzle may actually LIKE another dog if there are liver treats around – GASP!

We haven’t tried them yet, Daisy’s only 9 months old and has a sensitive stomach, so we’re taking our time introducing new treats. She really loves Old Mother Hubbard treats, which are made with all natural ingredients. Not made in the USA, unfortunately, but at least they’re made in Canada. We’ll look for Pure Bites next time, I think her tummy is ready for a new treat experiment!

Shiva loves these treats too. But her palatte isn’t very discriminating as she loves dirt. What’s most important is that I love giving them to her. I like how they often crumble or break easily so I can use them in small bites for training.
I love Gus. He always makes me smile.

We will have to try these. Spike and Dru are big fans of chicken treats from Petco. If these treats easily break into smaller pieces they would be great training treats for us.

Hi Helen! They make great training treats! We usually only give Gus 1/3 of a treat which makes the bag last forever!

Hi! Gus! It’s me Buddy,
I noticed low calorie on the bag. Maybe I can convince my person to try them. The Vet put me on a diet. I lost the weight but they watch it very closely. My only problem is I can’t eat just one of anything. Have a great Wednesday!

Sadie and Rusty love liver treats. I love the size they are perfect for training. Love your blog and can’t wait to hear about your future travels.

I volunteer at my local humane society and I’m going to pick some of these up for my dog friends there – I’m sure they’d LOVE them.

Hi Chandra! We buy the large 1 lb bag online. Most pet stores carry the smaller bags, but they’re quite pricey when purchased in small quantities. Kudos to you for volunteering!

Hi Gus,
Liver treats are my very favorite. I’ll do just about anything for them. Mum used them to help me get over my fear of the camera – now when I hear the camera turn on, I come a-runnin’.
Even the cat will come around when liver treats are being doled out.

Aww, what a cutie! One of my doggies can’t take most treats because of a sensitive tummy and the other has never had liver. They look yummy!

Jersey isn’t too fussy about her treats. When she was a show dog, I used homemade liver treats in the ring as bait. They’re pretty easy to make.

Liver is Rogue’s FAVORITE, too! We make her “Liver Pupsicles” for dessert. We just freeze a batch of fresh beef liver pieces! Gus will pose for photoshoots when rewarded with liver – too awesome!
