Don’t tell Gus, but we’re suspending a week of Word Whiz Wednesday in order to share something exciting with you! A couple of weeks ago we blogged about Gus’s knowledge (and love) of the word “liver treat”. You can read the full post here. Gus has been devouring liver treats for years and PureBites kindly sent us samples to share with our blog friends. Cool, right?!
PureBites sent along four of their freeze-dried treats: Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Ocean Whitefish and Chicken Breast…all made with only one ingredient. Even though Gus would like to keep these all for himself, we decided it’d be more fun to share the goodies with TEN of you! Just do us a favor and don’t tell Gus we’re sharing. He’d never forgive us.
As you can see, I went a bit overboard snapping photos. M teased me about how long my “liver treat photo shoot” took this weekend. I have no problem admitting it was an absolute blast. I could happily make a career out of snapping photos of liver treats. PureBites, call me. Gus says I’ll work in exchange for an unlimited supply of treats.
I played with the aperture setting for the next photos and was pleased with how they turned out *takes a bow*. Slowly but surely we’re starting to get the hang of our DSLR. Hopefully we’ll master all the settings before our travels later this year!
Here are the nitty-gritty details on how to snag samples of all four of these PureBites treats:
- Comment on this post and share with us your dogger’s nickname
- Gus has TONS…here are a few: Buster Brown, Gussers, Gussie, Mister, Mister Nosey-Pants, Monsti (short for monster) and many more!
- Gus has TONS…here are a few: Buster Brown, Gussers, Gussie, Mister, Mister Nosey-Pants, Monsti (short for monster) and many more!
- U.S. entries only
- We apologize to our international friends! We are shipping all these packages ourselves and our heads nearly exploded trying to determine the international shipping rules. To our friendly Canadian neighbors to the north, if you are familiar with Canada’s import rules, let us know. We’ll call the USPS tomorrow to see if we can get more information so you can be included!
That’s it…Easy peasy! We’ll enter all the comments into Random.org Sunday evening, update this post and notify the ten winners via email. Although not mandatory, we’d love for you to like our Facebook page and/or follow us on Twitter. Additional information on PureBites can be found on their website, Facebook page or Twitter account. Thank you, PureBites!
We couldn’t possibly post without including a Gus photo, so we’re including one of our all-time favorites. This was taken right after he’d been given a bath and a nice warm blow-dry. Since this is a family friendly blog, we tastefully photoshopped a little paw print over his you-know-what. We wouldn’t want to be accused of puppy pornography.
Disclosure: This post was not sponsored by PureBites nor did we receive any compensation. The product review we posted here was based solely on our opinion and experience with PureBites liver treats.

UPDATE: We put the comment names in Random.org and have our winners! The winners will be contacted via email. Thanks so much for reading!
**Disclosure: Comment #3 is my lovely brother, Steve. We will be sending their adorable doggers treats + the 11th commenter!**

Great post… Tiffy likes liver treats as well. One of Tiffy’s nicknames is “Whoey” or “The Who” because when she was a puppy she reminded us of one of the Whos from Whoville in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Thanks Gus for sharing your treats!
According to Gus
January 26, 2011
Love it! I bet she did look like a Who…we always say Gus has Grinch feet because of his crazy paw hair.
Angel @ Life with LuLu & Wally, too

And great job on the DSLR photos. The depth of field is awesome! Don’t you just love messing around with that thing and seeing what it can do??
Ok, I can’t even count all the names my two have! It’s a wonder they even know what their real names are.. LOL! Here are the ones we use the most:
Wally: Walter, Sir Walter, Wallaford, WallyWog, Wog, Wogger, The Wogfather…
LuLu: Louise, Lu, Sugarpop, Chicken Noodle, Doodle, Babygirl…
Thanks for sharing with us!

I’ve never heard of PureBites, but I can’t imagine Scout not liking them (that would be a first!). Scout’s many nicknames include Scouters, Scoutimus Maximus, and Little Bit.
According to Gus
January 26, 2011
Oooohhh…Scout would love them. The liver treats are super stinky, which is what I think attracts Gus to them so much. Scoutimus Maximus is an awesome nickname!

Freeze dried treats are a personal fave at our house–great for keeping the nose going in the right direction at agility or any other training game. I’ve not heard of this brand before, but sure will watch for it. Thanks for sharing the info.

Our dogs generally get the exact same kind of milkbone treat over and over and over again. I’ve never heard them complain, but I’m sure deep down inside they’re thinking, “Why does Mom never give me anything but dry milkbone? Often broken in half? At least give me the whole treat, ma…”
My favorite nickname for our pug Tandi is Tandikin Slowwalker. In another life, she was destined to be a Jedi.
According to Gus
January 26, 2011
Tandikin Slowwalker *giggles* that’s a great nickname. Yeah, Gus always gives us the wtf look when we break his biscuits in half too.

Sabrina's Pug Tails
January 26, 2011
Although I’m Canadian, I just had to comment on your post and the great pictures you took.
I took a DSLR course this weekend that went over all the awesome manual settings on my new camera. Although I still have a lot to learn, this course really helped ease many of my fears about “breaking” the camera.
Sabrina only has a couple nicknames: Snorty Pug, Princess Snuffalup-a-lot
To anyone who has never bought their dog freeze dried liver treats, both Sabrina and our cat Shinobi highly recommend them.
Sabrina would walk to the ends of the earth and back for a mere sniff of liver treats. I’ve used them when I want to take pictures of her doing things that are out of her comfort zone, like sitting on the Wii board, standing on the kitchen counter, looking relaxed while perched on a cold rock etc.
Of course, when the liver treats come out, Shinobi always makes sure he gets his fair share, even if it means pushing dogs out of his way to get them.
Loving your blog,
Sabrina’s mum

Very cool that you took a course! I’ve been meaning to do that since last May when we got the camera and still haven’t. How about a blog post teaching us all what you learned?!
So glad to hear we’re not the only ones who use liver treats as a bribe!

Spike and Dru will not enter this contest since we just won the chew toys and we don’t want to seem greedy; well Spike does but Dru and I are holding him back. I am so impressed with your pictures where you were playing with the aperture. I have had my DSLR for about 4 years now and still use the point and shoot. I must make time to figure out the manual settings. Gus’ picture is priceless. Love the privacy patch.

Cheers!
