Happy Wednesday, Friends!
The title of today’s blog post is a tad dramatic, but at the same time, highly appropriate for our current situation. We’ve spent the last several days organizing and packing up our house. To say ”we’re in the weeds” is probably a gross understatement. We tossed around posting an expletive-laced title, but decided to keep it clean and family friendly.
Please accept our apologies as we haven’t been able to visit all of our blog friends as much as we’d like. Our Google Reader is quickly filling up with unread posts and we look forward to catching up next week. The moving semi arrives tomorrow (!) and once it’s filled and shipped off, we hope to have time to catch our breath before we depart next Saturday.
In the meantime, we wanted to share some photos of Gus during one of our recent walks along the River Walk. He loves to root through tall grass and weeds and these photos were just perfect for the title of today’s post.

I am sure packing an entire house can be overwhelming! I know packing up this house would be.

I can’t believe you all are leaving on your trek across the country next week! Did you sell your house yet?
Mack and I like to root around in the woods/weeds/tall grasses, too.

Hopefully soon!

Packing up the whole house for a big move is hard work and can be terribly stressful, although you guys make it sound like a breeze. You may be have been in the weeds, but I think you (with your super organizational skills) had the weeds trimmed weekly so it wasn’t like trekking in the Amazon forest! Must be getting real exciting now—less than 14 days to go

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Although I’m normally crazy-organized, this move is proving to test my skills!

Lori, just yesterday I was thinking about how close your departure date is and how busy you all must be. Wait until Gus sees what’s coming – he’ll be one happy guy with all his new adventures! Lots of new “weeds” to sniff! LOL
How exciting!

This is my first visit to your blog and, well, I love Gus. I used to have a pekeapoo myself, and even though he didn’t really look like Gus, it still warms my heart
Look forward to more adventures!

Hi Lori,
It must be crazy right now mid-packing!! Is Gus wondering what’s going on ? At least you know all this chaos is just temporary and soon you will be on your way on your amazing adventure – woohoo!!
By the way Gus, did you find anything exciting in those weeds?

Yes, he wanders around as we dart from room to room. We’re so worried about how he’ll react once we leave for good. I hope he adjusts okay!
He always finds something exciting in the weeds.

Gus looks very happy sniffing all those plants along the walk!
By the way, I’d love to see a photo of your niece’s dog sometime – I’ve only ever seen one other dog that looked similar to my Jess!

cute photos, Luna is usually wanting to be doing the exact same thing but will reserve it for the off leash time. Wow, a little over a week left! Time flies, can’t imagine how stressed you probably are. But imagine how good you will feel at the end of it all, or when you actually get on the road, or when the house sells.. So much to look forward to! My parent’s house took a while to sell, but then the perfect buyer came along, it’ll happen for you too.
And HOLY CATTLE!! I actually won something! That made my day, as I was JUST talking about getting one of those bowls when we were walking at the arboretum the other day and I had to put the wet-not-totally-waterproof foldable bowl back in my pack. Thank you Thank you!
Hope your wednesday goes smoothly, and the moving semi business too

Good luck packing! I’m a total weirdo and totally enjoy the process (I LOVE throwing things away). I was worried about the boys during our last move. While they were freaked out during the packing phase, the rest of it went smoothly. I think they realized that we were all sticking together, even if our stuff was going somewhere else!

As you have read, we understand being behind. We just wish we were behind for something as adventurous and exciting as a cross-country road trip! When we get behind we usually start with the most recent post and then go back as far as time and energy will allow. We have been thankful that some of the blogs we love haven’t been posting as often as they do in the winter. It makes catch up easier for us.
We wish you luck and hope we get a chance to meet you in person when you get to Seattle. Hopefully we can plan a weiner walk for then and you can be our special guest

Where the *ell have all those “weeks until you have to leave” gone?! I’m sure you’re wondering that yourself about now.
I certainly hope you get a breather after the truck pulls away; it’s time for the packing and crazing to give way to extreme excitement and butterflies.

Hi Lori! What a neat blog! I am envious of your cross country trip with Gus. Be sure to check out western Iowa’s flooding when you come through. It’s insane how high the Missouri River is!
Thanks for the comment on my blog about Bows. She is such a fun little (old lady) dog to have around.
